This study was carried out to examine the similarities and differences that exist between the second language acquisition processes of English and pidgin. On the other and English is equally learned in Nigeria as a second language but native to British and America. It is characterized by norms of acceptability and there are qualitative different stages in the development of pidgin as a second language.
Pidgin we all know is a contact language and have no native speakers. Attempts to equally establish a relationship between them are not new. The possible connections between these areas (second language acquisition processes of English and pidgin) have been debated for more than a century. A speaker of English as a second language usually lives in a country where English is not the native language of indigenous inhabitants.
